traumatic brain injury

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a serious injury which can be life-ending or changing. TBI can occur when a violent jolt or blow causes the brain to slam against the skull. A TBI can occur without any loss of consciousness. An average of 155 people in the United States dies each day from TBI. Survivors of TBI can face challenges that can last days or the rest of their lives. Effects of TBI can include impairments related to thinking or memory, movement, sensation (e.g., vision or hearing), or emotional functioning (e.g., personality changes, depression).

Causes of TBI

A TBI can be caused by a bump, blow, or jolt (whiplash) to the head that disrupts the normal function of the brain. This could include automobile, motorcycle, bicycle and trucking accidents, worksite injuries or slip and falls.

Common TBI Symptoms

The severity of a TBI may range from “mild” (i.e., a brief change in mental status or consciousness) to “severe” (i.e., an extended period of unconsciousness or memory loss). Most TBIs are mild which are commonly called concussions. If you suspect TBI, immediate medical attention is critical. The following may be signs of TBI: memory loss, balance difficulties, and dizziness, constant headache, sleep disturbances, nausea, sensitivity to light and vision problems, depression and change in personality or temperament

Impact of TBI

Many TBI victims make full recoveries while many do not. For those who do not make a full recovery, there can be lifelong and life-altering changes including tremendous medical costs. We at Bikerlawyer.com have helped hundreds of TBI victims recover damages for medical costs, impairment, disability, lost wages, wrongful death, pain and suffering and mental anguish resulting from TBI.

David is a motorcyclist himself. He absolutely knows what it's like to share the road when you're on two wheels and all the other vehicles around, you are on four or more, and he understands that you have a right to the roadway.
